Kimono Cardigans

The kimono cardigan is where our two best-loved categories meet: the open, wide-sleeved shape of a kimono and the warmth and texture of a knit. There are no buttons to fasten and no waist to fight; it falls straight from the shoulder and moves with you.

Most of ours are hand-crocheted — granny-square, lace and shell patterns worked stitch by stitch by our artisan partners, so no two are exactly alike. Knit and woven kimono cardigans in brushed yarns and viscose behave like a sweater but pack flat for travel.

Wear one open over a slim column of black for the longest line, belt it loosely over a dress, or throw it on over a swimsuit and linen pants at the beach. Pair with long layered necklaces to echo the vertical line.

Is a kimono cardigan the same as a duster? A duster is longer — mid-calf or more — and usually woven. A kimono cardigan is typically hip-to-knee and knit or crocheted. If you want length, see long kimonos & dusters. How do I wash a crochet kimono cardigan? Hand wash cool, lay flat to dry and reshape while damp. Never hang a wet crochet piece.
