A Legacy of Empowerment, Passion, and Family

At SAACHI, women have always been at the heart of our story. From our founder, Rose Ajmera, to her daughter-in-law and current Director of Sales, Roma Ajmera, our company’s journey is rooted in family, empowerment, and a deep commitment to craftsmanship. As we celebrate National Women’s History Month, we reflect on the remarkable women who helped shape our vision and continue to drive our mission forward.

A Visionary Beginning

In 2001, Rose Ajmera, an immigrant driven by cultural pride and entrepreneurial spirit, founded SAACHI with a singular vision: to bring the beauty of Indian heritage to the forefront of American fashion. Rose, having grown up surrounded by the rich tradition of handcrafts and textiles in India, was determined to showcase these unique, timeless pieces to the world.

Reflecting on those early days, Rose shares, "I think family time was sacrificed, but now they are with me in this business, so I feel much happier that at least I accomplished that. They are here with me." What began as a dream soon blossomed into a thriving business, with pashmina scarves gaining widespread popularity. Rose’s passion for bringing high-quality craftsmanship to the marketplace laid the foundation for what would become a women-led, family-driven business.

The Evolution of SAACHI

In 2013, Roma Ajmera, Rose’s daughter-in-law, joined the company as the Director of Sales. Roma brought fresh perspectives and a shared vision for success, ensuring the business grew while maintaining the core values of collaboration, respect, and empowerment.

Roma is passionate about the culture they’ve built at SAACHI, which is reflected in her leadership style. “I always thought this of whoever is coming here, they’re kind of part of our family,” she says. "We want to keep them here and see them grow personally and professionally. We give everyone a lot of autonomy and encourage entrepreneurial thinking. It’s fun to see our team come up with exciting ideas. Being a women-owned business is something we're incredibly proud of.”

This nurturing and supportive environment allows both Rose and Roma to mentor not just the employees, but each other, creating a dynamic that is both family-centric and business-savvy. Their shared commitment to quality craftsmanship, authenticity, and innovative design has allowed SAACHI to flourish as a brand that empowers women both inside and outside the company.

Empowering Women, One Design at a Time

At SAACHI, our mission has always been about more than just creating beautiful products. We want to empower women, whether through the artisans who handcraft our designs or the women who wear them. Rose believes that business is like a tree that requires constant nurturing and care. “A business is a tree; you have to water it, feed it, and do everything it needs. It’s our passion, and I enjoy doing it every day in and out,” she reflects.

SAACHI continues to embrace this nurturing philosophy, ensuring that every piece reflects high-quality craftsmanship and the values of independence, creativity, and confidence. As a women-owned business, SAACHI takes pride in providing a space where women feel valued, heard, and supported. From our handcrafted apparel and accessories to our business operations, the designs and decisions made at SAACHI are always centered around making women feel as unique, empowered, and beautiful as they are.

Looking to the future, Rose and Roma continue to drive SAACHI with a vision rooted in family, passion, and the unwavering belief that women deserve to feel empowered, confident, and beautiful.
