Ode To Emerald
Princess Eugenie’s Statement - Making Wedding Day Accessories
October 12 marked the second time we have been graced by a royal wedding in 2018, with Princess Eugenie of York marrying Jack Brooksbank. The first royal wedding, of course, being the union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Given the covert nature of the planning of any royal event, we, the commoners, are left to admire the details that are shared with us. Almost instantly, the media releases the name of the bridal designer, the fabric they used, hair and makeup artists, and, of course...the origin of the jewelry worn.
A longstanding royal tradition, a bride of regal roots will borrow (or be gifted!) a tiara and other pieces from the Queen. Naturally, Princess Eugenie’s bandeau-style tiara featured the obligatory diamonds on-par with any royal wedding. The Princess did, however, take a chance on incorporating an element of color into her wedding day look, with emeralds in both her tiara and earrings (the latter were a gift from her groom). Not only does this diamond-studded choice play into the resurgence of jewel tones, but it will surely serve as inspiration for brides around the world to incorporate a pop of color into their wedding day jewels.
Emerald has long been known to represent healing, which was apropos given another statement Princess Eugenie made; the choice to opt out of wearing a veil, exposing the open back of her gown, which revealed a long scar from a surgery to correct her scoliosis.
Princess Eugenie’s fearlessness in both self-acceptance and accessories will be remembered and embraced for years to come. You can incorporate your own pop of emerald with our classic Gemstone Drop Earrings in Green (only $40!), which are the perfect regal nod to add some opulence to your everyday!
